Art Work

We have been working hard to make our classroom look beautiful. Miss Bateman took a photo of each of us on the first day of school and printed these off so that only half of our face was showing. We then had to follow some step-by-step instructions for how to sketch the remainder of our face. We think they look pretty neat up on our wall!
We then used a coloured photo of us and a black and white photo of us and we had to measure strips on each of the pieces of paper. We cut out the strips of paper and weaved them together over and under each other. We think they look quite awesome up on our wall! Can you work out who is who?

Treaty

Wow! What a busy start to the year we have had! We have been settling into our new classroom and learning all the new rules and routines. We read a book called 'The Tree hut Treaty'. This story was about some children that decided to build a tree hut together. They had a lot of fun using the tree hut, however after a while there was a lot of arguing going on between them. One day one of the children took away the ladder and locked it up so no one could use it. It wasn't much fun not having the tree hut to play in so they decided to create a list of rules that they all had to agree on and sign. Another word for this type of agreement is a Treaty. We then decided to make our own Room 11 Treaty, where we created a list of rules that we would like for our class. Everyone agreed to the rules and signed it so that we can all get along and work nicely with each other. To tie in with this, we looked at the Treaty of Waitangi, the reasons behind this agreement and why we celebrate Waitangi Day.
