School Cross Country Training

This year, we have been doing cross country training. When we do it we get super pumped and feel awesome! The run is 1km and goes around the whole of Hillcrest. It starts at the top field and goes out the exit by RM 14 then comes out at Ellen Ave. Then it goes through the walkway to Cobblestone Lane and we cross the road. Then we go down a slope to Hillcrest Ave where we go up the hill to Holland. Once we’ve gone left we keep going until we get to Northgrove Ave down and around the hill and round about. But the year 3s are allowed to cut through the Hillcrest domain that comes out at the bottom of Northgrove ave. Then we go through the back entrance! Surprisingly the school cross country is fast approaching on Wednesday 2nd September!

Sunny Bee visits Room 11

On Friday the 14th of August Sunny Bee picked RM11 at singing assembly because we impressed him and the teachers the most with our beautiful singing. He visited RM11 for one week to see what is happening in RM11, he sat on the smaller whiteboard with wheels. He sat beside and made friends with the stuffed toys and looked at the marble jar too. Sunny Bee got very smart looking at the circle fractions and maths equipment underneath him and learned multiplication equations from the times table challenge. Miss Bateman tried to impress Sunny Bee by telling funny jokes and now RM15 are laughing their heads off by the jokes they’re getting told by Sunny Bee. Thanks to Peter Sugrue of RM11 for getting Sunny Bee’s attention for us! :D

Kids Can Cook Show

On Monday 8 August we went to a show by Kids Can Cook to teach us how to cook some things they also taught us about other cultural foods including French pancakes A.K.A crepes. The cook chose a sous chef and told us some tips about cooking while the sous chef made some crepes with apple and silverbeet. Yum! Fun fact: frogs legs taste like chicken. The chef asked us how many sides do we think an apple has - apparently an apple has six sides, wow! That’s only if you cut it though!  We really enjoyed the show.

National Scout Scarf Day

On the first of August it was National scout scarf day. There are four scouts in year five - two from Room 10 and two from Room
